Mr. Tyler McCann graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fitchburg State University, earning a B.S. in History and Middle and Secondary education. Mr. McCann was introduced to the St. Bernard’s community through a teaching internship in 2022 and has been a part of the community ever since!
Mr. McCann was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, and graduated from Osceola High School in 2012. Immediately after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in supply, accounting and logistics, in addition to being a Uniformed Victim Advocate for survivors of sexual misconduct. His service included two overseas deployments, and completion of multiple military courses in leadership and mentoring. It was through his experiences in mentoring and counseling young men and women that he discovered his calling for teaching and began his degree taking night classes while in the service. Mr. McCann was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2019.
Mr. McCann is immensely proud and excited to be a part of the St. Bernard’s community, and looks forward to serving the student body as Dean of Students. When he’s not roaming the halls or meeting with students and families, he spends time with his wife Madison and their dog Nate. He is also likely cheering on his Tampa Bay sports teams, the Rays, Buccaneers and Lightning!
Mr. McCann teaches Bernardian Seminar, a freshman level course designed to teach students our school history and values, how to be a good student, and helping them to discover what it means to be a “Bernardian.”
