Nelson Guevara is a natural learner full of curiosity with a strong sense of personal values and a great passion for education. He joined the Bernardian community in 2021. He received a bachelor’s degree in English and Philosophy from Clark University, where he graduated summa cum laude and as a member of both Sigma Tau Delta and Phi Sigma Tau honors societies. He was awarded the second prize award of philosophy for academic excellence. Mr. Guevara also earned an associate’s degree in English Studies from Middlesex Community College, where he graduated as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and was awarded first prize for academic excellence by the English department.
Mr. Guevara’s first experience as an educator began when he was 18. He taught music theory and guitar lessons to K-12 students at Instituto Canzion in El Salvador. While at Middlesex, he worked as T.A., and tutor with the English department and the Academic Center for Enrichment, where he obtained a CRLA 1 certification in English tutoring. Prior to joining STB, Mr. Guevara taught and mentored High School students through Let’s Get Ready Inc. -- a non-profit organization.
Mr. Guevara has a wide range of interests and hobbies -- from reading and playing music, to painting street art, to pondering on ideas about literature and philosophy, to climbing the Santa Ana volcano. He enjoys any meaningful activity that can bring him a new experience and understanding of the world, but above all, he loves sharing with his students in the classroom. Mr. Guevara’s ultimate goal is to improve El Salvador’s educational system. He is currently pursuing his Master of Arts degree in English and Composition at Fitchburg State University and works at Cambridge College as an assessment reader during the summer break.
