Ama Baker comes to St. Bernard’s with years of experience in the Fitness Industry. Ama has had personal training and nutrition clients at gyms like Crunch Fitness, LA Fitness and Gold’s Gym. Ama is a Certified Personal Trainer since 2015 along with being a Fitness Nutrition Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist. She has helped STB’s male athletes, female athletes and even staff achieve their health and fitness goals.
Ama is also the Girls’ Varsity Soccer Assistant Head Coach and Girls’ Varsity Basketball Assistant Head Coach and Girls’ Junior Varsity Head Coach. Outside of St. Bernard’s Athletics, Ama also coaches AAU with the Mass Huskies and is the Sports Performance and Nutrition Coach for QB1 Mentality. During the summer months she coaches with the Boston Celtics: Celtics Camps.
Before coming to St. Bernard’s, Ama trained a range of clients; specializing in Player Development and Performance Enhancement. She would train college athletes along with Military Personal preparing for Boot Camps and Fitness Evaluations.
Ama attended Daniel Webster College her freshman year of college, studying Sport Management. There she was a part of the record-breaking Women’s Basketball Team. The Lady Eagles won the first NECC Women’s Basketball Conference Championship in Daniel Webster History. They also went on to break most points scored in a single game and a record breaking 25-9 overall record, earning a bid into the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
Mid-season during her sophomore year, Ama transferred to Vermont Technical College. Ama helped lead her team to two YSCC Final Four Appearances. During her time at Vermont Tech, Ama scored over 1,000 points in 2.5 seasons and collected accolades like First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-Conference, USCAA Second Team All-American, Female Athlete of the Year. Ama holds individual records such as most assists in a single game and most steals in a single game.
While being a student-athlete at Vermont Tech, Ama was also the Vice President and President of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
