When St. Bernard's High School learned the Worcester Diocese was considering closing the school in 2019 due to low enrollment, our community rallied together in an extraordinary effort. Through unwavering dedication and the support of generous individuals, we implemented a plan to privatize the school and grow enrollment. This miracle at St. Bernard’s is only the beginning of our story.
Today, we are thrilled to share our remarkable progress! In 2019, our school's enrollment hovered at just 100 students. Over the past five years, our enrollment has flourished, and we currently serve 236 students from 33 communities in North Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.
The Bernardian Difference
Our high school continues to distinguish itself through enhancements such as:
Academic concentrations in Health Sciences, Business, Stem & Engineering and Liberal Arts.
A 3-week Junior Internship Program where all juniors spend 6 days with local alumni, parents, and friends.
Boosted athletic offerings and an abundance of extracurricular clubs and activities.
Multiple improvements to our facilities, including upgrades to our lighting, phones, security and technology systems.
Be a Part of Our Next Chapter
Securing Our Future
Our next goal is to sustain the future of St. Bernard’s High School for generations to come! An anonymous donor has offered us an incredible opportunity: a 3:1 endowment match on the first $2,000,000 raised for the endowment by June 30, 2025. If there is any time to contribute to St. Bernard’s High School, it is now! We are asking our community to take advantage of this monumental opportunity that may never come again. A successful campaign will raise $8,000,000 to invest in the future of our school and help to provide a remarkable education to our current and future students for years to come.
The Endowment Fund
These critical funds will be a bridge to the future by providing the financial resources required to meet the changing needs of our school and ensure our financial viability well into the future.
All contributions to our endowment fund will benefit the school in perpetuity, providing a sustainable source of income annually.
The school will draw 4.5% of the average market value annually, allowing any earnings above that to remain in the fund.
Time is of the essence to capitalize on this opportunity! The anonymous donor has given us until June 30, 2025 to raise up to $2,000,000 in cash, securities or pledges (up to 3 years) for the endowment. We are asking our community to make the biggest investment possible to secure this truly transformational opportunity for our school.
